Job Description

Two options:
#1 Join existing private practice of one Neurologist (Neurology of Southern IL) 
#2 Solo practice (either with hospital income guarantee of 12 months or hospital employed).

Call: to be arranged
2 active Neurologists on staff
Office space available in the MOB adjacent to hospital.

Reason for need: Developing a service line of Stroke and Chest Pain. Strong need for Neurology in community.  Ideal candidate would have interest in stroke but open to other modalities as well.

This would be a traditional setting (mix of inpatient and outpatient care).

Hospital Description

A 92-bed full-service, tertiary health care facility. The facility has 68 medical and surgical beds, a 12-bed ICU, and 17 obstetrics beds, which includes five LDR's. In addition, the facility has a 26-bed same-day surgery unit, and a 17-room ER that includes eight acute care rooms, three fast-track rooms, and a four-bed chest pain center. The facility has five surgical suites, plus two endoscopy rooms and one special procedure room. Expanded tertiary services include open-heart surgery, angioplasty, stent implantation, atherectomy, neurosurgery, and level II nursery in OB. Open-heart surgery and related procedures began in the Spring 2003.
Designated an emergency resource hospital, offers a full range of emergency services including trauma, acute medical care, pediatrics, orthopedics and cardiac care, with 24-hour coverage handling more than 24,000 cases per year. Outpatient rehabilitation services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and wound care services.

Community Description

Located in the very center of Southern Illinois, this community is a 2 hour drive from St. Louis, 3 hours from Indianapolis.  Southern Illinois is home to lots of outdoor activities, lakes, state parks.  Hunting and fishing opportunities abound as well as locations to hike and camp.   The 2010 census counted 17,193 residents.
