Job Description

Seeking to assist a local group practice in recruiting a new associate. This Board eligible/Board Certified physician position is open due to one member of the group who is leaving to move closer to family in Texas.  The group is well established and respected in the area.
Practice considerations include:
*  Traditional group practice, serving both inpatients and outpatients
*  1:3 call coverage for Pediatric admissions and unassigned ED call
*  Peditricians respond to C-sections and manage newborns post-delivery in the newborn nursery
*  Pediatricians perform all circumcisions
*  Pediatric clinic hours are 8:30 - 5:00 p.m. Mon.- Fri., and 9-12 on Saturdays
*  2011 OB volumes = 140 vaginal deliveries and 53 C-sections
*  Compensation commensurate with training and experience, and may also include Medical Education Debt Repayment Assistance available, if needed

Hospital Description

Is a 49-bed Acute Care facility located in North Carolina. The hospital has received full accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services including: a state-of-the-art Intensive Care facility, Rural Health Clinics, a 24-hour Emergency Department, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Midwifery Services, Pediatrics, Family Practice, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary Services, Complete Surgery Facilities, Telemedicine and Physical and Occupational Therapy and Telemedicine. Part of the Hospital, the University Family Medicine Center is a Family Practice Residency program that is associated with East Carolina School of Medicine. 

Community Description

Martin County is located in the northeast Coastal Plain of North Carolina, just ninety-eight miles from North Carolina's Outer Banks and Atlantic Ocean. More than twenty creeks and streams slowly meander through the countryside emptying into the Roanoke River, eventually reaching the Albemarle Sound. Greenville, home of East Carolina University and East Carolina School of Medicine is an easy twenty-five mile drive to the southwest. 

Martin County is mainly agrarian and has a population of 25,000, the county seat, is the largest town with a population of 6,000. Martin County is comprised of interesting communities like Bear Grass, Goose Neck, Poplar Point, Farm Life and Spring Green, each with its own special identity. 

Eastern North Carolina is rich in its historic heritage. Located in the heart of the historic Albemarle Region, Martin County was once part of the lands governed by the Lords Proprietors, eight British lords who helped King Charles II regain his throne in 1663. Several communities in the county are on the National Historic Register. Numerous other sites and districts in Martin County have been selected for the National Historic Register. 

Recreational opportunities abound in the county and surrounding areas, from the Outer Banks and adjacent sounds and rivers for water sports to the best woods and lowlands for game club hunting. 

The Roanoke River is a fast moving river that flows through Martin County. Canoeists have discovered the beauty of the Roanoke and its many tributaries and platforms have been built along the river to facilitate access. The Roanoke River Wildlife Refuge covers 33,000 acres and is home to the wild Carolina turkey, migratory waterfowl and several species of rare plants. The North Carolina Nature Conservancy sponsors bird watching and eco-tourism hiking and canoe trips on the river and the refuge. 

Martin County is a prime location for game fishing and hunting. The Martin County Travel and Tourism Authority sponsors an annual three-day bass fishing tournament which draws some of the state's most avid bass fishermen. The area has an abundant deer population and deer hunting has become a popular sport. Each year limited permits are issued to hunt bear and wild turkey.   East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville hosts stock car races every weekend from April through October.  It is a paved highbanked 3/8 of a mile tri-oval racing facility and seats up to 2,000. Special family events are held throughout the year, which sometimes includes fireworks.
