Job Description

Great opportunity to choose your practice setting in Morristown, TN, a beautiful and growing community of almost 30,000 in eastern TN.  Looking for a couple of top-notch board eligible/board certified physicians: FP's or IM's to either establish independent practice or join an already established practice.  Hospitalist service will allow you to avoid the hassle of rounding on your hospitalized patients.  This is a great opportunity to help shape a new primary care practice and enjoy life in beautiful east Tennessee.

Hospital Description

Is a JCAHO accredited 135-bed, acute care general hospital, with a referral area of 145,000 people and secondary service draw of 250,000. It is a member of the Federation of American Hospitals, Tennessee Hospital Association and the American Hospital Association. Some hospital features include: a Women’s Pavilion including six labor, delivery and recovery rooms, 10 private post-partum rooms and a 10-bassinet level one nursery; medical and surgical units; a seven-bed intensive/coronary care unit; a 27-bed rehabilitation unit; physical therapy department; surgery department with a day-surgery program; endoscopy laboratory; cardiac testing; radiology department, including nuclear medicine, arteriography, mammography, ultrasound, CT scanning and MRI; and the Emergency Care Center with 24-hour physician staffing. There is a complete pharmacy and a modern, well-equipped CAP and AABB certified clinical laboratory within the hospital. There are approximately 250 employees on the hospital staff, and 98 physicians and dentists on the active medical and courtesy staff. A medical professional building, with available office space, is located adjacent to the hospital.

Community Description

With a population of over 28,000 and a total county population of 60,000, is located in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee, bounded on the north by Clinch Mountain and on the southeast by the Great Smoky Mountains. The valley is also bounded on the north by Cherokee Lake and on the south by Douglas Lake, both upper reservoirs of the Tennessee Valley Authority System. There are over 118 churches representing 25 denominations in the city and county. Has a mild climate with an average summer temperature of 77.2 degrees and a winter average of 42.0 degrees. There are more than 100 civic and service clubs, organizations, fraternal groups and sororities. Presently, there are 110 manufacturing plants, employing more than 20,000. Furniture and plastics are the primary products, while other industries include chemical, industrial machinery, textiles, automotive supplies, lumber and numerous small business operations. Two major federal highways intersect in the city, while Interstate 81 passes within 3.5 miles. Knoxville, home of the University of Tennessee, is 35 miles to the southwest. A new regional shopping mall recently opened here. 
Lakeway to the Smokies has become the recreation by-line for the town because of its proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains and two TVA lakes: Cherokee and Douglas. The Country Club boasts an 18-hole golf course and swimming pool and excellent dining facilities. City parks, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, bowling alleys, six indoor theaters, nine AYSO soccer fields and two public golf courses, add to recreational pleasure. Panther Creek State Park is located at a scenic and historic site on the Cherokee Reservoir. This 1,900 acre Tennessee State Park offers a swimming pool, tennis courts, tent and trailer camping and picnic areas and hiking, biking and horse trails. Additional proposed park facilities include a marina, lodge and camping areas. The Theater Guild, the oldest amateur company in Tennessee, performs six plays each year.
