Job Description

Private group of 13 providers is seeking a board certified or board eligible Family Practice physician to expand into a satellite clinic in Southern Illinois.  The area is underserved and is able to sponsor J1 visas and is a scholarship (forgiveness) site for the NHSC.  The area is a growing community without healthcare services.  The clinic is currently under construction and will be finished within months.  The clinic will be staffed with a mid-level prover and staff of both mid-level and incoming Family Medicine physician.  Setting would be outpatient with a very light (telephone) call volume.  Hospitalist program in place for inpatient care.  Office duties: 9am to 5pm four days per week with one evening clinic.  (1 day off per week).  No Saturday/Sunday hours.  

Compensation: Very competitive including: salary, incentive production bonus, fringe package, potential for signing/commencement bonus, health/dental/disability insurance, malpractice insurance, paid vacation and CME time.   CME funds, payment of license fees, and cell phone reimbursement.  Hospital is supporting this recruitment with a 12 month income guarantee.  

Hospital Description

The Center is a 92-bed full-service, tertiary health care facility. The facility has 68 medical and surgical beds, a 12-bed ICU, and 17 obstetrics beds, which includes five LDR's. In addition, the facility has a 26-bed same-day surgery unit, and a 17-room ER that includes eight acute care rooms, three fast-track rooms, and a four-bed chest pain center. The facility has five surgical suites, plus two endoscopy rooms and one special procedure room. Expanded tertiary services include open-heart surgery, angioplasty, stent implantation, atherectomy, neurosurgery, and level II nursery in OB. Open-heart surgery and related procedures began in the Spring 2003.

Designated an emergency resource hospital, the Center offers a full range of emergency services including trauma, acute medical care, pediatrics, orthopedics and cardiac care, with 24-hour coverage handling more than 24,000 cases per year. Outpatient rehabilitation services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and wound care services.

Community Description

Located in the very center of Southern Illinois, this community is a 2 hour drive from St. Louis, 3 hours from Indianapolis.  Southern Illinois is home to lots of outdoor activities, lakes, state parks.  Hunting and fishing opportunities abound as well as locations to hike and camp.
